About

Who are we? Well, we've been caring for little minds and bodies for a number of years and we're proud of what we have accomplished. It all began in 1972, when The Hill was founded as a feeder school for Herschel and Western Province Preparatory School. When Herschel expanded and we had to find new premises, The Hill moved to the present location in Winchester Avenue, Bishopscourt, opposite Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden. Enthusiastic parents and hard work created the new building which has grown over the years into the existing successful and highly respected institution. Significantly, a number of past pupils' children now attend The Hill. This is a source of pride to the school and our community.

We’ve been part of this school since 2025 and couldn’t be happier. The teachers are truly amazing - warm, attentive and deeply invested in the children’s wellbeing and growth. The staff are caring and present, the environment is always clean and well looked after, and the activities are enriching and thoughtfully planned. The outdoor play space is a real highlight, giving the children plenty of room to explore and play. It’s a wonderful school with dedicated staff and such a welcoming, nurturing atmosphere for children. We feel very grateful to be part of this community.

The happiest little school! The staff have the children’s best interest at heart, days are filled with amazing, stimulating activities and the playground must be the best in Cape Town. I would highly recommend this. What child says “I just love school”? They do, when they go to The Hill.
